Kranevo Beach

On the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria a beach 22kms north of the international Varna city and cathedral, 11kms south of Balchik town waits for you to visit our golden sands of Kranevo holiday village beach, from the south side of the cove just outside of the holiday resort of Golden Sands starts a concrete road promenade lined to the sea with barriers, the cherno more "Black sea" could be the youngest sea on earth joining the Mediterranean sea via Turkey and full of life about 180 species including Herring, Grey Mullet, Anchovy and Mackerel, be sure to keep and extra keen eye open for the bottlenose dolphin among others.

The promenade heads in the direction of the local fishermen marine and jetties, a very small affair with only ten boats or so, no more than 4 or 5 meters long and most of which are power by hand rather than using Bulgarian outboards, in the evenings when the sun goes down boat men can be seen searching for their nets which had been cast in the mornings or night before, fish are sold from the jetties or fish hut by the kilogram,

walking towards the main beach the road has many fishermen huts built from old timbers yet in resent years have been modernize with small pretty gardens, one of the oldest building here at this area is an old restaurant which has long since closed and in ruin but parked in the grounds as a working amphibian vehicle which is still in use to take guests on tours

moving a long to the beginning of the sandy beach 100meters opening in a triangle shape this area is mainly used by locals and people who do not want to rent umbrellas but just bring a towel and are close to two of the first beach bars that open all year round where the prices are not much more than the village it's self, after the bars the road disappears off to the center and hotel Palma and the old vacation children's holiday camp still used from school children from around the world, it is a this point the beach becomes wide, stretches 3 kilometers and you will be able to see all of the bay of Baltata, Balchik and Cape Kaliakra

The sands now stretches as far as, and passed Albena holiday resort, round to Balchik town and as far as Cape Kaliakra who legends say that 40 women tied their hair together to jump into the sea instead of being captured by the Ottomans, but Kranevo beach is now opening up to long lines of umbrellas and sunbeds just as you would see in most European beaches hosting some popular sports such as parasailing, speed boat banana inflatables, jet ski and pedalos, many people can be found gathering to form teams of different ages to play contact and none contact beach games and children building sand castles and large sandmen the Black Sea its self gradually slopes away allowing people to walk and swim off far and still be able to stand, the shelf is safe for young children to bath along with the safe guards watching the sea

Very new beach bars have been built by the municipality to rent out to companies who bid on the rent then open for the season only, one of which is "vinilla" Vanilla Beach Bar restaurant a very high class place serving day and night and playing music from visiting DJ's you will have a great time there, all the sections of the beach which are rented charge for umbrellas and beds so you don't have to bring your own and none bar patrons may not use the area yet still there is plenty of beach to lay your towel,

The end of Kranevo Beach is joined by the start of Albena beach it is at this point that it is said a nudist beach exists but I have yet to see it thou people have told me it is there? Baltata Reserve now begins just off the beach then inland and under protection from the forestry ministry, Albena resort is a privately own large hotel complex and beach built in the 1960's,
